Here at West Madison Dental, we're committed to providing our patients with the best modern dentistry has to offer. As a team, we love learning through continuing education, and our dentists stay current with the latest trends and technology in dental care.
When we invest in technology, it is because it will streamline your treatment, improve your comfort, or educate you about your oral health. We hope you'll spend a moment checking out some of the state-of-the-art technology West Madison Dental currently offers. Don't hesitate to call us if you have any questions.

Nitrous Oxide
Do you have dental anxiety that causes you to skip dental appointments and put your oral health at risk? At West Madison Dental, we understand how ingrained these fears can be, but our goal is to know where they come from and how we can help you overcome them.
A kind and gentle team of professionals who empathize with your concerns is the first step. We also offer nitrous oxide or “laughing gas” to help smooth the stressful bumps for you and help you relax.
Nitrous oxide is a slightly sweet-smelling gas that you inhale through a small nasal mask. As you breathe normally, you’ll be flooded with a warm sense of well-being, and you’ll feel very calm and relaxed. With nitrous, you will remain fully conscious and able to communicate with us, but the activity around you will seem distant and far away.
After treatment is completed, we’ll turn off the nitrous oxide and have you breathe pure oxygen for several minutes. You’ll feel refreshed and alert with no drowsy side effects, and you can safely drive yourself home from your appointment.
Please let us know at your next appointment if you think nitrous oxide would benefit you.

TVs in Treatment Rooms
At West Madison Dental, we offer TVs in our patient treatment rooms to enhance your comfort and experience. These in-room televisions provide a soothing and relaxing atmosphere during your dental procedures, helping you stay calm and entertained.
Whether you're watching your favorite show, listening to music, or enjoying a movie, the TV allows you to focus on something other than the procedure, making your visit more enjoyable. It’s a simple yet thoughtful touch that helps ease anxiety, especially for patients who may feel nervous about dental treatments.
We believe in going the extra mile to make you feel at ease because your experience matters as much as your smile.

CBCT 3-D X-Rays
CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) 3-D x-rays are a powerful diagnostic tool that provides detailed, three-dimensional images of the teeth, jaw, nerves, and surrounding bone. Unlike traditional 2-D x-rays, CBCT captures a full 360-degree view, offering unmatched precision and clarity.
CBCT is used for a variety of purposes, including planning dental implants, evaluating jaw joint (TMJ) issues, assessing bone structure and density, locating the exact position of teeth and roots, and diagnosing complex problems that can’t be seen with regular x-rays. This technology is especially helpful for root canal therapy, oral surgery, orthodontics, and detecting cysts or tumors.
CBCT scans are quick, comfortable, and emit only low-dose radiation. With this advanced imaging, we can make more accurate diagnoses and treatment plans, leading to safer, more predictable results and better long-term patient outcomes.

Digital X-Rays and Sensors
Digital x-rays and sensors have modernized how we diagnose and monitor oral health. Unlike traditional film x-rays, digital radiography captures highly detailed images of your teeth, roots, and jaw in seconds, exposing you to less radiation.
These images are instantly available on a computer screen, allowing us to zoom in, enhance, and analyze areas of concern with incredible precision. Whether it's detecting cavities, assessing bone levels, or planning treatments like implants or root canals, digital x-rays offer faster, clearer, and more accurate diagnostics.
Digital sensors are also more comfortable for patients, eliminating the need for bulky film or chemical processing. And because everything is stored digitally, your records can be easily shared between providers or used to track changes in your oral health over time.
It’s a safer, smarter, and more efficient way to see what’s happening beneath the surface.

Digital Impressions
Digital impressions have transformed how we capture the shape and structure of your teeth and gums. Instead of using traditional impression trays filled with messy, uncomfortable putty, digital impressions use advanced scanning technology to quickly and comfortably create a precise 3-D image of your mouth.
A small handheld wand is moved gently over your teeth, capturing thousands of images per second. These images are combined in real time to produce a detailed digital model, which can be used for crowns, bridges, clear aligners, veneers, and other restorations.
Digital impressions offer greater accuracy, reducing the chance of errors or the need for retakes. They also allow for faster turnaround times and a more comfortable patient experience.
Whether you're getting a single crown or a full smile makeover, digital impressions help ensure a perfect fit and natural look, bringing convenience, precision, and confidence to every stage of your dental care.

Digital Cameras
Digital cameras play a key role in modern dentistry. They capture high-quality images of a patient’s teeth, gums, and overall oral condition, allowing our dental team to document, diagnose, and communicate more effectively with patients and dental labs.
We use digital cameras for full-face or smile images, which are especially helpful for cosmetic planning, before-and-after photos, and treatment documentation.
These detailed images help patients see what the dentist sees, making it easier to understand their oral health and treatment options. Digital photography also supports procedures like smile makeovers, clear aligners, and veneers by providing accurate visuals for planning and design.
Digital cameras bring clarity, precision, and transparency to the dental experience, making every step more informed and personalized.

Digital Patient Communication and Scheduling
Digital patient communication and scheduling have made visiting our dental office more effortless, more convenient, and more personalized than ever before. Instead of phone tag and paper reminders, we use secure, streamlined technology to stay connected with patients at every step of their care.
Dental teams can send appointment reminders, follow-ups, treatment updates, and even post-visit instructions directly to your phone or inbox through email, text messaging, and patient portals. Online scheduling allows patients to book, confirm, or reschedule appointments anytime without having to call during office hours.
These digital tools help reduce no-shows, improve communication, and ensure patients stay informed and on track with their dental health. Whether you are confirming a cleaning or receiving updates about upcoming treatments, digital communication makes the process simple, fast, and stress-free.
At West Madison Dental, we are all about making dental care more accessible and patient-friendly so that you can focus on your smile, not your schedule.

Using state-of-the-art technology, the PrimeMill transforms digital impressions into precisely milled restorations with incredible speed and accuracy.
This system uses digital scanners and design software to create custom restorations from strong ceramic materials. Once the design is finalized, the Primemill carves the restoration with fine detail, ensuring an excellent fit and natural appearance.

It’s a blend of convenience, innovation, and precision, helping patients leave with a healthier, more confident smile in less time than ever before.

In-Office Moderate Sedation
Oral conscious sedation is a gentle, effective way to help you feel calm and relaxed during dental treatment. It’s ideal for those who experience anxiety, have a strong gag reflex, or are undergoing longer procedures.
With this method, we’ll prescribe a pill for you to take a little while before your appointment. By the time you’re in the chair, you’ll feel deeply relaxed but remain awake and able to respond to questions or instructions. Many patients feel so at ease that they remember very little about the procedure afterward.
Oral conscious sedation allows dental care to be more comfortable and stress-free, especially for patients who may have avoided the dentist in the past. It’s safe, effective, and monitored closely throughout your visit to ensure your well-being.
At its heart, oral sedation is about building trust and comfort so you can get the care you need without fear standing in the way of your healthiest smile.

Digital Smile Design
Digital Smile Design is a revolutionary tool that allows patients to see a preview of their future smile before treatment even begins. We can create a fully customized treatment plan that blends art and science using advanced technology like digital cameras, 3D scanners, lab-grade design software, and 3-D printers.
The process starts with high-resolution photos and digital impressions of your teeth, gums, and face. These images are uploaded into specialized software that analyzes facial symmetry, tooth proportions, and bite alignment. From there, we design a smile that complements your features and goals.
One of the most exciting parts of DSD is the ability to “try on” your new smile, either digitally or with a 3D-printed mock-up. This lets you preview the results, make adjustments, and feel confident moving forward with treatment.
Digital Smile Design turns imagination into reality, offering a collaborative, personalized, and precise approach to creating the smile of your dreams.

Intraoral Cameras
Patient education is an integral part of the dental services we provide for our Madison, AL patients. We don’t dictate what treatment you need; we include you in the decision-making process by using technology like intraoral cameras that help you visualize a particular condition and understand how the proposed treatment will benefit you.
An intraoral camera is a handheld device that we use to give you a tour of your teeth and gums. As we direct the small digital camera over your teeth, you’ll see the real-time images appear on your chairside monitor.
If we detect a problem like a cavity or gum disease, we’ll point it out to you so you can see it and understand how it’s impacting your oral health. We use intraoral cameras in conjunction with digital x-rays to give you the most comprehensive picture of your oral health possible.
Since we can also capture them as still images, we can save them to your patient record and refer to them as needed for treatment planning and monitoring.
