Does Any of This Sound Familiar?
If any of this feels familiar, you are not stuck with it. A single restoration can change how your whole mouth feels and functions.
What Waiting Really Costs
Small cracks spread further
A crack that starts on the surface travels deeper into the tooth over time.
Teeth drift into the gap
Neighboring teeth tilt and shift, changing how your bite comes together.
Treatment grows more involved
What a crown could fix today may need a root canal or extraction later.
Bite pressure lands unevenly
Chewing on one side wears down the teeth doing the extra work.
Your food choices keep shrinking
Every month you avoid certain foods, that habit becomes harder to break.
Costs climb with complexity
Simple restorations cost far less than the treatments that replace them.
Treating it now usually means a simpler visit and a stronger, longer-lasting result.
What Are Dental Crowns and Bridges?
A crown is a custom cap that covers a damaged tooth completely, restoring its shape, strength, and appearance. A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring a replacement tooth to the healthy teeth on either side of the gap. Both are shaped from durable materials like porcelain and zirconia, then shaded to match the teeth around them so the result looks like it belongs in your mouth.
Because we operate an in-office lab at West Madison Dental, your restoration is designed and milled here rather than shipped out. Our lead designer Ashley works with CEREC Primemill milling and 3D printing to build crowns and bridges in Madison, AL with precise fit and natural contours, which means fewer adjustments and a restoration shaped specifically for your bite.

What to Expect With Crowns and Bridges
Exam and Planning
We start by looking at the tooth and talking through what you want your smile to do. Digital scans and images show us the condition of the tooth and how your bite comes together, so you see the same picture we do. You leave this visit knowing exactly which option fits and why.
Preparing the Tooth
The area is fully numbed before anything begins, and nitrous oxide is available if you would rather feel completely relaxed. We shape the tooth so the restoration fits snugly, then take a digital scan instead of a tray of impression material. Most patients say this part feels like nothing more than gentle pressure.
Design and Milling
Ashley designs your crown or bridge in our in-office lab, matching the shape and shade to your surrounding teeth. CEREC Primemill milling produces the restoration on site, which removes the wait that comes with outside labs. You get a restoration built specifically for your mouth rather than something adjusted to fit.
Placement and Fit
We set the restoration in place and check how it meets the teeth above and below it. Small refinements happen right there until your bite feels even and natural. You walk out chewing normally, with a tooth that looks like it was always there.

Recovering After Your Crown or Bridge
First 24 to 48 Hours
Mild sensitivity around the tooth and gum is common while the area settles. Stick to softer foods and chew on the opposite side for the first day. Over-the-counter pain relief handles any discomfort, and most patients are back to their routine the same day.
First Week
Sensitivity to hot and cold typically fades as the gum tissue settles around the restoration. Brushing and flossing return to normal right away, with gentle attention around the new crown or bridge. By the end of the week, most patients stop noticing it entirely.
